Lots designed for smart bidding, where a single purchase can fill your wine cellar.</p><p>With Valentine’s Day approaching, we envisioned a dinner capable of charming your +1, your partner, or your future other half! We could have taken the playful route: winking at cuvée names. A <em>Grande Dame</em> (<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://www.bagherawines.auction/en/lot/voir/57438" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lot 16</a></span>), a <em>Charmes-Chambertin</em> from Perrot-Minot <span style="color: #000000;">(<a style="color: #000000;" href="https://www.bagherawines.auction/en/lot/voir/57590" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lot 151</span></a>)</span>, or even <em>Les Valentines</em> (<a href="https://www.bagherawines.auction/en/lot/voir/57728" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lot 264</span></a>). Pair it with a ceviche prepared with just a touch of passion, and you create a subtle echo with the wine while reinforcing the evening’s theme…</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"><br />Alors, mieux vaut sortir le grand jeu, façon wine geek, pour créer la surprise et l’émerveillement. L’option n’en demeure pas moins sûre : les vignerons sélectionnés remportent chaque année l’adhésion des amateurs les plus exigeants. Le <em>Lièvre à la Royale</em>, aussi sublime soit-il, sonnerait un peu faux. Absolutely—but ending the evening by the fireplace would certainly earn extra points.</p><p>A word to the wise…</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"><br /></span><span style="color: #808080;">Et pour conclure la soirée avec panache, rien de mieux que le Sine Qua Non, <em>Mr. K Vin de Paille</em> (<a href="https://www.bagherawines.auction/en/lot/voir/57765" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lot 293</span></a>). Sémillon passerillé à la texture sirupeuse mais soutenue par une acidité encore présente, finale sur dattes, sirop d’érable et notes maltées. Un dessert simple suffirait : une pomme au four confite et caramélisée, toute simple mais dont on aurait terminée la cuisson dans le feu de bois pour y apporter des notes à peine boisées. Là on délire totalement mais finir la soirée au coin d’une cheminée vous marqueriez encore des points.</span></p><p><span style="color: #808080;">A Bon entendeur… </span></p>        </div>

This is a serious, dignified, and elegant wine — an almost perfect reflection of an already legendary vintage. While it’s ready to be enjoyed now, it can still slumber a little longer in your cellar, to the delight of both yourself and your guests!</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"><br />L’attaque en bouche est souple et soyeuse, douce et équilibrée. Il y a quelque chose du thé dans ce Clos de la Roche, entre les fleurs séchées et les tannins qui se déploient tout en finesse rappelant l’encens. On the palate, its salinity evokes sea spray, warm stones, or shellfish... Altogether, it offers a beautiful expression of terroir — a fluid, vibrant, and creamy-textured wine with remarkable length.</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"><br />Sans nul doute il s’agit là d’un champagne de grand vigneron : L’attaque est franche et ciselée, sur les fruits jaunes et les pierres mouillées. A la dégustation sa salinité évoque les embruns marins, les pierres chaudes ou les coquillages...         <p class="p1"><strong>Lot 34 </strong><br /><strong>Comte Georges de Vogüe, <em>Musigny Blanc</em> 1992<br /></strong>A rare wine, produced in small quantities, offering a unique opportunity to taste one of the final vintages before the vines were uprooted in 1994!</p><p class="p1">What we have here is a rather unusual expression of Chardonnay, with a nose combining notes of white fruits — from Williams pear to peach — accompanied by aromas reminiscent of beeswax and honey.</p><p class="p1">A sharp minerality brings an astonishing freshness for a wine of this age. The palate is complex without being cloying, with all the wine’s opulence held in check by a solid underlying structure.</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"><br />Un vin rare, produit en faible quantité, offrant l’occasion de déguster un des derniers millésimes avant l’arrachage des ceps en 1994 ! </span></p><p><span style="color: #808080;">On déguste ici une expression assez insolite du Chardonnay, au nez alliant des notes de fruits blancs allant de la poire William à la pêche, accompagnées par des arômes rappelant la cire d’abeille, le miel… </span></p><p><span style="color: #808080;">La minéralité tranchante vient ramener une fraîcheur déconcertante pour son âge. La bouche est complexe sans être écœurante, et toute l’opulence de ce vin est contenue par une vraie structure.<br /></span></p>        </div>

        <p><strong>Lot 163</strong><br /><strong>Rayas 2010</strong><br />We are tasting here a wine with a clearly identifiable signature, centered around blood orange and rose petals supported by subtle spices […] Some signs of evolution are noticeable, with empyreumatic notes, dried fruits, and slightly kirsch-like red fruits.</p><p>Despite what its appearance may suggest, this is a powerful wine, with a subtle balance between delicacy and aromatic depth. The palate is intense yet unextracted. This wine will fully expressing itself through a long, lingering finish. A wine that is ready to drink.</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #808080;"> <br /></span><span style="color: #999999;">On retrouve ici un vin emblématique à la patte clairement identifiable autour de l’orange sanguine, des pétales de roses soutenues par des épices légers. Quelques notes d’évolution sont perceptibles sur l’empyreumatique, les fruits secs et fruits rouges légèrement kirschés.</span></p><p><span style="color: #999999;">Il s’agit d’un vin puissant contrairement à ce que sa robe laisse deviner, dont l’équilibre subtil se situe entre délicatesse et profondeur aromatique, bouche puissante mais sans extraction, s’exprimant pleinement sur la longueur.         <p><strong>Lot 172 </strong><br /><strong>Domaine Tempier, Bandol "<em>Cabassaou</em>" 2008</strong><br />The nose opens with noble vegetal notes of garrigue and blackcurrant leaves, accompanied by hints of liquorice and a slight roasted aroma.</p><p>If you wait a moment, the wine continues to evolve in the glass, giving way to a sweetness brought out by black fruits such as black cherry and plum.</p><p>The palate is seductive and warm, and its finely-grained tannins make this a silky wine that still has good ageing potential.</p><hr /><p><span style="color: #999999;"><br />Le nez s’ouvre sur un végétal noble, aux notes de garrigue, de feuilles de cassis, qu’accompagnent des touches plus réglissées allant jusqu’à une légère torréfaction.</span></p><p><span style="color: #999999;">Pour peu que l’on attende un instant, le vin évolue sans cesse dans le verre, pour laisser place à une douceur ramenée par des fruits noirs, comme la cerise noire, la prune… L</span></p><p><span style="color: #999999;">a bouche est séduisante et chaleureuse et ses tannins d’une grande finesse en font un vin soyeux qui possède encore un bon potentiel de garde.</span></p>        </div>

        <p>There is something wonderfully mystical about the wines of the Jura and I have been wanting to visit this region for a long time in order to discover what makes this wine country such a rich and diverse territory.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p><p>Who better than Julie (Carpentier) as guide for 48 hours in the region of Comté, Savagnin, Trousseau and Poulsard ?</p>        </div>

        <p>Julie is very familiar with France in general (and not only France!) and the French Jura in particular. We set off on the roads of the Jura under a radiant sun on this beautiful Easter weekend.</p><p><em><strong>First stop</strong></em>: Domaine du Pélican in Montigny-Lès-Ar- sures. We passed the building without even noticing it. We turned around to discover a small sign indicating a wine cellar on the right. It must be said that the aim of this brand new building which stands in the middle of the vineyards was in fact to blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. And the gamble paid off handsomely!</p><p>Warmly welcomed by Monsieur François Duvivier himself, we were very fortunate in being able to taste all the cuvées of the fascinating 2021 vintage. The pinot noir was outstanding, but the many other vintages featuring the native Jura grape varieties were also particularly well accomplished and were a delight to taste on this Easter weekend!</p><p><em><strong>Second stop</strong></em>: Caveau de Bacchus, Lucien Aviet &amp; Fils, and the meaning of «family viticulture» is immediately clear. Welcomed by Alice, Lucien’s daughter-in-law and Vincent’s companion, in the historic cellar in the centre of Montigny, which also serves as a shop and tasting room, we found ourselves immersed in the most Jurassian realm of Bacchus, forgetting for a moment that we were in 2022. Together, we then embarked upon a sumptuous tasting of the estate’s wines. The magic proceeded with the Trousseau, Poulsard, Melon à Queue rouge ... bursting with aromas of crunchy fruit and possessing superb balance. For me, two qualifying terms : great wines and human warmth.</p><p><em><strong>Third stop</strong></em>: the illustrious Houillon-Overnoy house in Pupillin. A welcome of a rare refinement due to the elegance of modesty. It was Monsieur Pierre Overnoy who received us in his home on the eve of Easter Sunday, in his dining room - explaining that Emmanuel and Anne had taken a few days of well-deserved holiday. It was now time for a convivial tasting, accompanied by fascinating technical insights, not forgetting a few anecdotes (how could we not enjoy it!). The 3 wines were exceptionally luminous and indulgent, and when you are lucky enough to meet the man who (co)produced them, the whole thing becomes perfectly clear and it was surprisingly touching... a rare moment.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>        </div>

        <p>24 May 2022, Geneva</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">We planned this get-together way back in September 2021, after a fabulous candlelit dinner at Château Lafite. As is customary, this evening in Geneva was designed for members of Club 1865 by Baghera/wines, and it took only a few minutes to fill the 12 seats for what was destined to be a memorable dinner.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">The theme of the evening - of which the watchword was "relaxed" - was proposed by Jean-Sébastien Philippe and we were all immediately enamoured. A Paulée in "L": each participant brings from his cellar a mystery bottle of his choice whose name (or appellation) begins with the letter L.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">The bottles would all be tasted blind during the dinner on May 24th in the Club 1865 by Baghera/wines, accompanied by the superb service of the Chat-Botté*. To this Paulée Jean-Sébastien generously contributed 3 vintages of Château Lafite arriving directly from the estate, Baghera/wines added two more.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">That evening, nearly 25 bottles were tasted although I am sharing with you my truthful impressions on exclusively the six vintages of <a href="https://www.lafite.com/en/chateau-lafite-rothschild/">Château Lafite Rothschild</a> that were opened during this memorable evening.</p>        </div>

        <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>- Château Lafite Rothschild 1962</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: cold and rain until the end of May. Very slow and repressed vegetation. We note the bud burst only on April 18th, very nice month of June, beautiful bloom, which evolved very quickly. Very hot summer, almost making up for the late vegetation, beneficial rainfall. Harvest on October 1st.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Ex-Chateau. Uncorked 2 hours before serving. The wine was served with the main course, a delicious side of beef with truffles and poivrade artichokes.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">This vintage was chosen by Jean-Philippe, it celebrates its 60th anniversary this year! Impeccable cork, superb level (base of neck). This bottle was served mid meal. A lovely clear colour but vibrant and very bright.  Fully ripe nose with a floral character that is still strong (rose petals, a little dried cherry), a hint of eucalyptus, cedar, leather, mushroom and earth. Perfectly integrated on the palate, subtle and elegant, with medium acidity, well blended tannins and a delicate finish of luscious red fruit. A magnificent bottle, a wine of aristocratic elegance with very Burgundian overtones. A stunning experience from an underrated vintage.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>- Château Lafite Rothschild 1976</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: year of the sirocco, the hot wind blew on the grape harvest, causing a phenomenon of dehydration. Exceptional summer, the hottest for 27 years and endless. After a very severe drought, the stormy rains at the end of August allowed the grapes to reach a normal size. You have to go back a long way to find such precocity. Harvest on September 15th.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Ex-Château. Uncorked 3 hours before serving. Bottle served with dessert, a chocolate soufflé tart.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">In the glass, the colour is a beautifully intense garnet. The nose is fragrant but evanescent and offers a mosaic of aromas : blackcurrant, pencil lead, black cherry, cigar, cedar wood, leather... Then the scent of mountain lovage leaves settles in permanently and never leaves the glass. On the palate, a beautiful intensity and balance, an airy, sanguine wine, very Lafite. Long, sweet and slightly spicy finish. A good length with accents of tobacco, graphite and nice smoky hints. A fine testimony to a year that was meteorologically-speaking, exceptional in the 1970s, but which shows itself in a very charming light on this splendid May evening. The perfect provenance of this bottle offers us - without a doubt - a pleasure which is tenfold in this 1976 vintage.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>- Château Lafite Rothschild 1982</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: a perfect year! Dry and mild weather without frost. Excellent flowering in June, early. Very dry and hot summer. Light rain, regular showers, cool and sunny in August. September particularly hot and dry. Good harvest conditions, from September 16th. Very substantial harvest.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Ex-Château. Uncorked 3 hours before serving. The wine was served with the first cheeses.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">The first surprise came as soon as the wine was served, when it revealed a beautiful deep ruby colour with very fine, barely lighter edges. On the nose, the wine offers an extraordinary bouquet of caramelised herbs, smoke, cedar, blackcurrant and damp earth. On the palate, these aromas are followed by a full-bodied, opulent, still fleshy wine. A beautiful, classic, sophisticated Pauillac, intense yet silky and airy. Perfect harmony and balance. Opulent and generous, this 1982 Lafite has retained a beautiful youthfulness, while developing an enviable harmony with age. This bottle delighted our palates from the first to the last drop, it was simply perfect. A forty year old in her prime, rather like us 😉</p><p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>- Château Lafite Rothschild 1997</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: this is what we call a precocious child! It was early thanks to ideal weather in winter and spring, which is often synonymous with quality. Bud burst as early as March 5th! At the beginning of July we expected the vintage of the century, but the rain, humidity and almost tropical heat of July and August were alarming. A magnificent month of September, dry, sunny and bright, saved the harvest from severe botrytisation and helped the grapes to get that much closer to the ripeness they would unfortunately never reach. The longest harvest Lafite has ever known: from September 8th to October 2nd, under the hot sun, a game of skill for the winemakers who had to hand select the bunches to save the best ones.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Ex-Baghera/wines cellar. Uncorked 1 and a half hours before being served. This bottle was served with a magnificent dish of Brittany lobster in its shell juice with Thai basil.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Intense colour, almost purple. On the nose, notes of coffee, sweet pepper, wilted rose, spices and exotic woods arrive every which way. This is followed by black fruit flavours (blackcurrant dominates) and burlat cherry flesh. Soft on the palate, medium-bodied, with even more concentrated black fruit and well-integrated tannins. This palate is pleasing as it offers very good concentration and firm acidity for the vintage. A wonderful surprise, a lovely bottle, perfectly accompanied with the shellfish and Thai accents.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>- Château Lafite Rothschild 2001</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: after a very wet winter and very mild temperatures, bud burst was early. Flowering took place on a normal and very even basis. The summer then alternated between warmth and cloudy spells until the harvest; July was rather cool, August rather hot, September cool again with some rain. In these conditions, ripening was quite heterogeneous and the harvest began in very good conditions on September 28th.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Ex-Baghera/wines cellar. Uncorked 1 hour before being served. This wine was served at the beginning of the meal, with the morel mushroom and garlic mousse starter.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Wonderfully mature nose with hints of perfectly ripe red fruits reminiscent of strawberry jam. A hint of minerality that suits it perfectly and goes well with its notes of cedar wood and fresh humus. The palate is perfectly integrated, subtle, with a generous combination of sweet red fruit, perfect acidity and a touch of minerality (pencil lead) at the finish. This 2001 vintage is seductive, enveloping and has many good years ahead of it. An absolute must-have in your cellar, to be opened regularly: what a delight!</p><p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>-Château Lafite Rothschild 2003</strong></p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Weather*: a memorable vintage because of the heat wave that hit the region and the whole country. At the height of the heat wave, rather than staying in the shade of the winery, we ventured out to  place a thermometre at the foot of a vine on the Lafite gravel plateau. Result: over 50°C! Rainfall was very low throughout the wine year (550mm against an average of 850mm), but the soils remained relatively cool and the vines did not suffer too much. In August, temperatures above 40°C were reached for a period of 2 weeks. The work in the vineyard was adapted accordingly: in order to protect the vines from the heat, the leaves were not thinned out. Fortunately, the month of September, with its milder temperatures and a little rain, allowed the grapes to complete their maturation, which had been partially blocked. Consequently the harvest was small. Harvesting took place on the 8th for the Merlot and the 15th for the Cabernets, with sorting of the grapes.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Uncorked 2 hours before serving, served with the side of beef.</p><p style="font-weight: 400;">Beautiful deep colour that is starting to show some age. Ripe nose with scents of truffle, cigar box, cedar wood, tobacco, and some notes of phenol that betray a solar vintage. On the palate, the wine is open, silky and sensual, with a texture that shows no sign of a hot vintage, only incredible elegance, depth, complexity, balance and precision. A deep, concentrated wine with an opulent finish that is perfect to drink. It seems to have reached a rather communicative fullness.         <p>24 March 2022, Geneva</p><p>Nestled in the heart of Morey-St-Denis in the Côte d'Or since 1862, Domaine Ponsot reflects the richness of the <strong>Burgundy terroirs</strong> and produces - among others - six grands crus, including the iconic Clos de la Roche.</p><p>On the occasion of Domaine Ponsot's <strong>150th anniversary</strong>, I jointly prepared with Alexandre Abel back in March this year, a rare tasting for the <em><a href="https://www.bagherawines.com/en/club/">1865 by Baghera/wines</a> club</em> members, which was accompanied by a delicious menu concocted by Dominique Gauthier — restaurant Le Chat Botté*.</p><p>At Baghera/wines it's been our outmost pleasure to host an entertaining and thrilling winemaker dinner in the presence of serious <strong>Burgundy aficionados</strong> coming from far and wide.</p><p>Please enjoy the details of the wines shared during <strong>an evening to-be-remembered</strong>!</p>        </div>

        <p><strong>- Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants Très Vieilles Vignes 2014</strong><br />Beautifully complex 100% Aligoté wine. Notes of peach and nectarine along with great acidity and lemon notes on the palate, but with just a little rounded feel in the mouth enhancing a pleasing and appetizing mouthfeel. It felt like this wine really just hit in the perfect spot and we couldn't dream of a better <em>entrée</em> for this sumptuous dinner! </p><p><strong>-Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos des Monts Luisants 1998</strong><br />An aligoté (85%, with 15% Chardonnay) with Loire Valley accents. A side of Layon wines without sugar, fat, notes of quince, a smooth evolution. Liveliness and acidity still well present, fine grid, salinity and sweet spice. Beautiful aromatic. Quite atypical but really well constructed. An excellent wine!</p><p><strong>-Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 2014<br /></strong>Clean, pure, nicely integrated fragrances of rich and waxy lemon and almond notes. Silky and voluminous, the finish of this wine demonstrates a Corton Charlemagne still evolving with gentle nutty aromas showing up when the glass reaches room temperature. </p><p><strong>-Morey-Saint-Denis Cuvée des Grives 2009<br /></strong>Wonderful bouquet of ripe cherry flesh, spice, black raspberry and earth, really smooth and elegant mouthfeel with soft integrated tannins and good acidity  — and a medium length finish. A delicious and rewarding wine, dominantly marked by its calcareous streak and the 2009 distinctive hedonistic vintage qualities in Burgundy.</p><p><strong>-Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée de l'Abeille 2011<br /></strong>Dark fruit aromas dominant on the nose. Beautifully spicy and clean, evolving towards luxurious sour plums and blood orange as the wine reaches room temperature. Medium bodied, strawberries, chalky minerality, pronounced acidity. Well composed, rather light but very elegant.</p><p><strong>-Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Cuvée des Alouettes 2005<br /></strong>Pure fruit juice from rather young vines. Full-bodied, powerful but not heavy. Kept changing over the course of the bottle towards earthy, gamy notes with good acidity and moderate tannins. Quite introverted at first, this mature wine revealed to be supported by a nice ripe acidity and a good ability for a longer cellarage. A lovely Morey! </p><p><strong>-Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2007<br /></strong>When it comes to red Côte de Nuits, I love the 2007 vintage. It's been drinking superbly for the past 2 years and never cease to surprise me... This Griotte perfectly embodies the ethereal qualities of this vintage at its best : floral overtones, explosive red berry fruits, charming acidity, soft tannins. Tender, pulpy and ... elegant like no other. A kaloidoscopic Griotte-Chambertin that caught my heart!</p><p><strong>-Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2007<br /></strong>From 30 years old vines on average. Bright red fruit with <em>sous-bois</em> and herb notes. A surprisingly dense wine on the palate. Energic, well-balanced, the tannins will most certainly benefit from additional cellarage to perform more harmoniously. Feminine ("<em>puissant mais fin</em>" said Alexandre), savory and aging very nicely. Let's re-taste it in 3 to 5 years ! <strong><br /></strong></p><p><strong>-Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes  2007<br /></strong>Mid-ruby, brick-amber edges. Earthy, animal, smokey, red fruit (pungent fresh nose of <em>burlat</em> cherry) with a strong chalk note mixed in. Concentration, wonderful balance and engaging spice. This Clos de la Roche 2007 is nuanced yet expressive, quite pulpy but restrained and very fine, all in harmony. Absolutely fabulous!<strong><br /></strong></p><p><strong>-Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1998<br /></strong>This underrated vintage can be excellent, with deep colour and ample structure, when yields were controlled and selection was strict at harvest. Pale brick color. Very pretty mature Pinot aromatics with very bright and pure red cherry fruits, coffee notes, and light floral scents. On the palate, a moderate acidity and well integrated tannins. A very pleasantly balanced wine, drinking very nicely.</p><p><strong>-Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1982<br /></strong>Last wine of this flight. All the 11 bottles being ex-domain. Medium body and color. Supple with an appealing mix of spices, red currant, fresh pine, and damp earth. Acidity is high. Very much in its drinking window. Drank nicely but very ephemeral.</p><p>—</p><p>I like <a href="http://www.domaine-ponsot.com/Home">Domaine Ponsot</a> wines for their fleshy character, for their volume, vintage after vintage, and because they know how to find their full identity with aging, It is when they fully bring a singular vision to the family of great Burgundy wines &amp; terroirs.<br />What a fantastic evening it's been! </p>        </div>

For this reason, on April 16, 2021, we invite you to celebrate history by “ awakening ” a number of bottles, some of them more than a century old, during a unique moment. For 24 hours, the world of the famous Maison Bouchard Père &amp; Fils will open its doors to you: that of the château as well as that of its exceptional expertise.</p><p>Calling all great epicureans in love with Burgundy. This trip starts at the Château de Beaune with a vertical tasting of the famous “ La Romanée ” from 1998 to 1865, through ten vintages commented by Philippe Prost, Bouchard Père &amp; Fils ambassador. To mark the occasion, a menu paired with the tasting notes of the vintages will be created by three Michelin-starred chefs <a href="https://www.troisgros.fr/page_3-maisons" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michel, César and Léo Troisgros</a> and their team.</p><p>Saturday morning brings the departure for the vineyards of the famous Chevalier-Montrachet terraces and a tasting of seven  white Grands Crus,, after which we will enjoy a convivial picnic in the heart of the vineyards, as a further reminder that wine is above all an elixir for sharing.</p></div></div></div>        </div>
