François Gaunoux
François Gaunoux was born in 1932. A strong-willed and visionary personality, he is the son of Henri Gaunoux, a renowned winemaker from Pommard. The Gaunoux family has been established in Côte d’Or since the 16th century, and François began working the vines at the age of 15.

In 1957, after his return from the Algerian War, François joined the family estate for two years, during which time he took charge of the vineyards and the creation of the family estate’s wines alongside his father Henri.

In 1959, after having worked closely with his father, François decided to found his own estate, thus becoming the third generation by creating Domaine François Gaunoux. He acquired the buildings in Meursault, now owned by his daughter Claudine.
The year 1959 offered wines of exceptional quality, harvested in mid-September following a hot and very sunny season.

Determined to produce wines that respect the environment and the terroir, and visionary in his choices combining tradition and innovation, François Gaunoux succeeded in sharing his knowledge and perpetuating the family tradition by cultivating a close relationship with his daughter. He knew how to combine modernism and tradition, making him an avant-garde winemaker.#

François Gaunoux est né en 1932. Personnalité volontaire et visionnaire, il est le fils d’Henri Gaunoux, vigneron renommé de Pommard. La famille Gaunoux est installée en Côte d’Or depuis le XVIe siècle, et François a commencé à travailler les vignes dès l’âge de 15 ans.

En 1957, après son retour de la Guerre d’Algérie, François rejoint le domaine familial pendant deux ans, période durant laquelle il prend la tête des vignes et de la création des vins du Domaine familial aux côtés de son père Henri.

En 1959, après s’être exercé aux côtés de son père, François, décide de fonder son propre Domaine, devenant ainsi la troisième génération en créant le Domaine François Gaunoux. Il acquiert les bâtiments de Meursault, aujourd’hui propriété de sa fille Claudine.
L’année 1959 offrit des vins qu’une qualité exceptionnelle, vendangés à la mi-septembre à la suite d’une saison chaude et très ensoleillée.
