The secret cellar of a European collector
On Sunday 2 December, the unique auction of a remarkable private collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines, composed of 1363 bottles, 158 magnums and 3 jeroboams, reached CHF 11,6M.
This auction, dedicated solely to wines of the Domaine, becomes the second biggest wine auction held in Europe, thus endorsing Baghera/wines’ status as leading European wine auction house, with a global total amount sold of CHF 46,5M in 2018.
Last Sunday, amateurs and collectors gathered to participate in the now historical auction of this secret cellar. Following the record sale “Henri Jayer, The Heritage” held in June, last Sunday’s sale can be added to the list of events which will remain amongst the references of fine wine auctions.
With 2 record sales and 2 successful “Wine o’clock” auctions, 2018 marks the strengthening of Baghera/wines’ position as a major player in the world of fine wine auctioneering. This exceptional year confirms their position as European leader with a turnover of CHF 46,5 million and 98,9% of lots sold over the year.
