Au nom de Baghera/wines, nous souhaitons exprimer notre profonde tristesse à l’annonce du décès d’Emmanuel Reynaud.

Tout au long de la semaine, les réseaux sociaux se sont emplis de photographies de ses vins, autant de petits hommages personnels, sincères et silencieux.

L’abondance de ces témoignages nous a fait ressentir à quel point cette communauté du vin était belle, vivante et combien l’œuvre d’un vigneron peut toucher, inspirer et fédérer. Au fil de ces partages, au gré des souvenirs de dégustation ravivés, nous l’avons réalisé: nous lui devions tous beaucoup.

De manière tout à fait fortuite, nous avions programmé — bien avant cette triste nouvelle — une vente rassemblant un nombre significatif de lots de Château Rayas, Pignan et Fonsalette.

Fallait-il, ou non, communiquer à leur sujet ? La vente était prête, et s’annonçait exceptionnelle… Nous avons longuement réfléchi à la manière de l’aborder, avec la pudeur et la dignité qui s’imposent.

Nous avons choisi de vous présenter ces lots avec le respect dû à l’œuvre d’un vigneron qui rejoint aujourd’hui le panthéon des grands noms ayant marqué de leur empreinte l’histoire de notre profession. Nous veillerons à ce que cette mise en avant se fasse dans la sobriété, la retenue et l’hommage qui lui reviennent.

C’est dans cet esprit que nous avons décidé de maintenir cette vente, en souhaitant qu’elle puisse devenir, pour chacun, l’occasion de célébrer non seulement de grands vins, mais aussi la mémoire d’un homme dont l’héritage continuera longtemps d’inspirer d’émouvoir amateurs, professionnels et générations futures.

Founded in 1864 by Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, Vega Sicilia is one of Spain's most iconic wineries. Trained in Bordeaux, Lecanda introduced French grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec to the Ribera del Duero region, alongside local Tempranillo. His ambition: to produce wines that rival the finest European vintages.

In the following decades, the estate passed through various hands, but it was under the leadership of Antonio Herrero, at the beginning of the 20th century, that Vega Sicilia acquired its legendary reputation with the creation of Unico, an exceptional blended wine, aged for many years in barrels and bottles, initially intended for an elite clientele and offered as a privilege rather than a bargain.

In 1982, a new era began with the acquisition of the estate by the Álvarez family, who modernized the facilities while preserving traditional methods. Under their leadership, Vega Sicilia developed and gave birth to other renowned vintages such as Valbuena 5º Año, Alión in Ribera del Duero, Pintia in the Toro appellation, and Macán in Rioja, in partnership with the Rothschild family.

The group also acquired an estate in Tokaj, Hungary, thus affirming its international vocation. Today, Vega Sicilia embodies Spanish winemaking excellence, combining tradition, innovation, and rigor, and its wines are among the most sought-after and rarest in the world.

It is a pleasure for me to introduce you this online “wine o'clock” auction #100 dedicated solely to Vega Sicilia. This sale will offer you the rare opportunity to acquire a remarkable collection of wines from our beloved winery.



The vast majority of the collection comes from the wine cellar of Ángel Renedo, a man whose life is deeply rooted within the history of Vega Sicilia. Born and raised on the estate itself, Ángel dedicated forty years of his professional life to the winery, working side by side with his brother, Martiniano Renedo.



The wines in this auction include some of the most prestigious vintages from the winery and have been carefully preserved under ideal storage conditions.



180 bottles are on offer, spanning vintages from 1925 to 1996, across the Unico, Valbuena No.5, and Valbuena No.3 appellations.
